Bookings for the Altroz CNG have begun at Tata Motors for a low price of Rs 21,000 each. The automaker plans to reveal costs before to the start of deliveries in May.

Tata is offering the CNG version of the Altroz in XE, XM+, XZ and XZ+ trims, with the top-spec trim getting a 7.0-inch touchscreen, digital driver’s display, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a voice-activated sunroof, 16-inch alloy wheels, an engine start/stop button, automatic climate control, height adjustable driver’s seat, leatherette seats, rear AC vents and a front centre armrest.

Additionally, the Altroz CNG has stability control, ABS with EBD, and six airbags. Based on the previous testing procedures, the standard Altroz received a 5-star Global NCAP rating.

The Altroz CNG does not receive any outward alterations other than the inclusion of a ‘iCNG’ emblem on the tailboard when it is first displayed alongside the Punch CNG at the Auto Expo 2023. Notably, the Altroz CNG now has a dual-cylinder setup that divides the CNG cylinders into two 30-liter tanks under the boot floor, freeing up the boot space.

A 1.2-liter, three-cylinder engine with a 5-speed manual transmission powers the Altroz CNG. This powerplant produces 86 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque when running on petrol, while producing 77 hp and 97 Nm when running on compressed natural gas. The Altroz can start in CNG mode right away, just like the Tiago and Tigor CNG, unlike its competitors.

The Altroz CNG will be the third premium hatchback with a CNG powertrain option, and is anticipated to cost Rs 90,000 more than its petrol manual sibling (Rs 6.45 lakh-9.10 lakh, ex-showroom). When it debuts, it will face off against the Toyota Glanza CNG and Maruti Suzuki Baleno CNG.
