Due to rising gasoline prices, there have been a lot more electric vehicles (EVs) in the Indian two-wheeler market. Hero, Honda, TVS, and Bajaj, which are all big two-wheeler companies, are getting ready to release a variety of electric bikes and scooters to tap into the market. Yamaha Motor India will also join the electric vehicle (EV) trend with its new Neo e-scooter, which is already on sale in a few markets around the world. Eishin Chihana, the head of Yamaha India, told an online media outlet that the company is doing extensive durability tests on an electric scooter platform for India right now.
Even though the testing for thermal management will take a while, the Japanese company that makes two-wheelers will bring the Yamaha Neo electric scooter into the country first.
Its battery pack and electric motor will be changed so that they work well in India. The company will also use local suppliers so that it can offer prices that are competitive. Yamaha has already said that its new electric scooters will start to show up in India by 2025.
The Yamaha Neo is like a 50cc scooter. It has a hub motor that puts out about 2 kW of power. The batteries on the e-scooter can be switched out. According to the company, the Neo has a range of 68 kilometers. It has LED lighting, a fully digital LCD instrument console with smartphone connectivity, smart key integration, and telescopic front and monoshock rear suspensions. Under the seat of the Yamaha electric scooter is a space that can hold 27 liters of things.
In other news, the Japanese company that makes motorcycles plans to bring back the famous Yamaha RX100 with a new look and a bigger engine. The company says that the new RX100 should have a powerful engine and a striking design. Even though we don’t know much about it yet, the bike is likely to have the 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine from the Yamaha R15 V4. The likely date for the launch of the brand-new Yamaha RX100 in India is after 2026.
