The Kia Seltos SUV will get a new look soon, and it should be available in India by the middle of 2023. The Seltos facelift was shown to the world in June 2022 at the Busan Motor Show in South Korea, and it has been seen testing in Hyderabad before it goes on sale.
The Kia Seltos facelift will come with a new 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine with 160hp and 253Nm. This engine will replace the current 1.4-liter turbo-petrol engine, which has 140hp and 242Nm. The current turbo-petrol engine can be paired with either a 7-speed DCT or a 6-speed manual transmission, but it’s still not clear which transmissions will work with this new engine.
The Seltos is also likely to come with the 1.5-liter gasoline engine with 115hp and 144Nm of torque and the 1.5-liter turbo-diesel engine with 115hp and 250Nm of torque. Both engines come with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed iMT gearbox. The petrol engine also comes with a CVT gearbox, and the diesel engine comes with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
With this update, the Seltos gets a new grille and new front headlights. The LED daytime running lights (DRLs) now go all the way into the grille. Profile-wise, not much has changed except that the alloy wheels now have a new look.
But the changes in design are more noticeable in the back. The new Seltos has updated taillights that are now joined by an LED light bar that also has the Kia logo on it. Before, the taillights were joined by a chrome strip. The tailgate has also been changed. The space for the number plate is now bigger.
Sources say that the updated Seltos will also have smart cruise control with navigation, highway driving assistance, a surround view monitor, automatic high beams, and smart parking assistance that can be done from a distance. Safety features include six airbags, hill assist control, a vehicle stability management system, parking sensors and a camera, and a tire pressure monitoring system. Also, the updated Seltos is likely to have a panoramic sunroof, which is already available on the model in other countries.
The dashboard stays mostly the same on the inside. But a new digital instrument cluster with a 10.25-inch screen is built into the same housing as the 10.25-inch touchscreen. The new Seltos is expected to have an automatic gearbox and a rotary dial instead of a traditional gear lever.
The Seltos are getting more worried about the new Toyota Urban Cruiser Hybrid and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. It also competes with the Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and MG Astor.
