All New updated Tata Nexon in the works

On Indian roads, a fully disguised Tata Nexon was seen being tested, which suggests that a major redesign is on the way. The Nexon’s last major update came in 2020, when it got a mid-life update. This will be the second major update to the compact SUV since it came out in 2017. The test mule is covered up, but it shows that the front and back fascias will be updated and that the interior will also be changed.

Even though these spy shots of a Nexon test mule don’t show a lot of details, it’s clear that the front and back fascias will be completely changed. The main headlight cluster looks like it has been moved to the front bumper, which is a design hint that was already shown on the Curvv SUV concepts. The new front bumper has a redesigned central air intake and grille, and the Nexon could get a new connected LED light bar just above the grille, like the Curvv concepts.

At the back, the rear bumper and tailgate seem to have smoother surfaces than the current model, which has steps. With a connected LED light bar and slimmer tail-lamp units, the back lights will probably look like the front lights. The overall shape of the Nexon hasn’t changed much, and it’s likely that the alloy wheels will also have a new look.

Even though the interior isn’t very clear in this picture, we can expect a new 10.25-inch touchscreen to be the highlight of a redesigned dashboard. Tata Motors showed off this new touchscreen at the Auto Expo 2023, so we know it will soon be in all of the company’s cars. This could be one of the most important things added to the Nexon facelift, along with a new digital instrument cluster.

A new-generation 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine, which Tata previewed with the Curvv ICE concept at the Auto Expo 2023, is expected to be the biggest change under the hood. This engine has 125hp and 225Nm of torque, which is an improvement over the Nexon’s current 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine, which has 120hp and 170Nm of torque. The 1.5-liter diesel engine with 110 hp is likely to stay the same. The Nexon currently comes with both a manual and an automatic transmission, but it remains to be seen if these options will change on the updated model with the new gasoline engine.

The facelift for Nexon won’t hit the market until sometime in 2024, at the earliest. The price will be higher than the current model, which costs between Rs 7.80 lakh and Rs 14.30 lakh. It will go up against cars like the Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, and Maruti Brezza when it comes out.
