The price of the new Bentayga extended wheelbase, which was made by the British luxury car company Bentley, starts at Rs 6 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). There are also two upgraded versions of the SUV, called Azure and First Edition. It is the top of the line for Bentayga, and it is also the brand’s new flagship model. The Mulsanne sedan held that title before it was discontinued in 2020.
The wheelbase of the Bentayga EWB is 180 mm longer, and all of the extra space is in the back passenger area. It has a twin-turbo V8 gasoline engine and small changes to the way it looks.
With the longer wheelbase model, it’s clear that the focus is on people who have a driver. Buyers can choose between 4-seat and 5-seat layouts, as well as a new “4+1” option that puts a small “jump seat” between two larger rear seats. Bentley does not offer a seven-seat option for the Bentayga EWB, even though it is longer than the standard Bentayga. This option is available for the standard Bentayga.
In the Airline Seat version of the Bentayga EWB, there is a new kind of climate seat that can sense a person’s body temperature and surface humidity and adjust the temperature and airflow around them to match. It also has postural adjustment, which makes small changes to the seat position and pressure points of the person sitting in it to make them more comfortable.
The back seats can also be leaned back up to 40 degrees, and the front passenger seat can be moved forward to make more room. The Bentayga EWB also has footrests that can be pulled out and rear armrests that can be heated or cooled. Those in the back can use a handheld touchscreen to control a number of rear-seat functions. Also, the back doors open with a push of a button.
There are a number of new plush trim options, including an intricate diamond quilting, a perforation pattern on the doors that is backlit by LEDs, and a separate ionisation system for the back seats.
The only changes to the outside are a new vertically slatted grille and polished 22-inch alloy wheels with 10 spokes.
For now, the only engine option for the Bentayga EWB in India is a 4.0-liter V8 with 550 hp. The long-wheelbase Bentayga can also be bought with a plug-in hybrid powertrain in other countries. With its 4.0-liter engine, the SUV can go from 0 to 100 in 4.6 seconds and has a top speed of 290kph.
The Bentayga EWB has rear-wheel steering, which makes the SUV much easier to turn and improves its stability at high speeds. Even though the EWB is longer, it has a tighter turning circle (11.8m) than the standard wheelbase model (13m).
The Rolls-Royce Cullinan, which costs about Rs 6 crore, is the Bentayga EWB’s main competitor (Rs 6.95 crore). The Cullinan, on the other hand, only comes with one wheelbase. The Bentayga EWB also competes with cars like the Mercedes-Maybach GLS and the Range Rover LWB with more features. But neither of these SUVs costs nearly as much as a Bentley.
